MIS AMS contributes to fundraiser for Macmillan in memory of Phil Hughes

Last year the MIS AMS team very sadly lost colleague Phil Hughes to cancer in a matter of a few weeks. He has been sorely missed by his friends at work and to mark his memory – almost twelve months on from his untimely death – the MIS AMS team attended a fundraiser which helped to raise £4,500 for cancer charity, Macmillan.

Organised by his wife Janette, the event took place at Pierpoint and Bryant Social Club in Warrington. Although there was a serious message and fundraising element to the evening, Janette and the team from MIS AMS who attended enjoyed a great night of entertainment and a lot of dancing – something Phil would have enjoyed himself.

Sharon Tatton, implementation manager, from MIS said: “The evening was such a brilliant event, not only did we celebrate the wonderful life of our beloved colleague, but also raised essential funds for the charity that supported him and his family in his last few weeks.

“The evening was full of laughter, smiles and dancing and was exactly how Phil would have wanted us to remember him. We all had sore heads and sore feet the next day, again something Phil would have been very much involved in!”

On the night there were raffle prizes as well as a fundraiser auction of goodies to bid for – which included tickets to the Grand National at Aintree, a car valet, a chef to come to your house and cook for you and even a watch from Phil’s own collection.

The MIS AMS team sold raffle tickets around the office to aid in the over-all amount raised.
