MIS AMS fundraises in memory of beloved colleague
Earlier this year we received some very sad news that our beloved colleague and friend, Phil Hughes had been diagnosed with cancer. In a matter of weeks, Phil sadly lost his battle.
To mark his memory and to help fundraise for the charity that cared for him and supported his young family, his wife Janette began a fundraising drive for Macmillan cancer – within a few days the total was already building substantially.
To support the efforts of Janette and in honour of our friend and dear colleague the whole team, led by our MD Chris, have helped tip the total over the £3,000 mark.
Andy Bannaghan, Phil’s line manager and close friend in and outside of work, was determined to help raise as much as possible for this vital cause: “It was a real honour to help Phil’s family fundraise. He was a very special man who was extremely dedicated to not only his work, but his wife and two girls. It was a big shock to us all when he was diagnosed, let alone how we all felt when we heard the very sad news.
“We all wanted to help support Janette in such a tragic time for her and her family, so we set about helping to fundraise in any way we could. It was particularly poignant our fundraising, as Phil’s final days were spent with his Macmillan support worker Mary and her help and care to Phil and his family throughout his illness were invaluable. And it was Phil that actually started the fundraising drive, through his experiences with the charity he was inspired to ensure other people received the same treatment and care he did.
“I also want to take time to thank our wonderful and loyal clients who have also donated to the tribute fund, this just shows what a brilliant and respected member of the team Phil was.”
The current total stands at £3,180 with further fundraising taking place in a matter of weeks.
MD Chris ended: “Another member of our team, Will Beaumont, is partaking in a 24-hour gaming marathon to raise further funds for the charity. So we hope this will only add to the growing total. We would all love to see as much raised as possible in way of marking such a wonderful man that we all miss dearly.”
